37 kW Screw Compressor Package for an Electronics Plant in Shenzhen

37 kWDirect-drive main unit
7.5 kWBelt-drive unit
~20%Less air-related downtime
~15%Higher production efficiency

Project Background

The plant is an electronics manufacturer in Shenzhen, one of China’s main electronics production hubs. As order volumes and technical requirements grew, so did its compressed-air demand. The existing supply could no longer keep pace: a new production line was being added, and the plant needed air that was stable, clean and dry enough to protect product quality, with lower noise and lower running costs than its previous equipment.

The plant’s requirements covered four points: sufficient air volume for both the existing and the new line, low noise in the production area, better energy efficiency, and long-term operating stability.

Solution

The air supply was split by line so that each compressor runs close to its best operating point:

  • Existing production line: a 7.5 kW belt-driven SILVERLUBE series screw compressor.
  • New production line: a 37 kW direct-drive SILVERLUBE series screw compressor with a high-efficiency motor.
  • Air treatment: a ChillDry CD refrigerated dryer, an air receiver and PurePart PF line filters, so that moisture and particles are removed before the air reaches the production equipment.

The compressors’ controllers support remote and scheduled operation, so the station can be monitored and started or stopped from a mobile phone instead of requiring a dedicated operator on site.

Results

A high-efficiency direct-drive main unit, supported by a small belt-driven trim unit, drives the station’s efficiency and stability gains.

After commissioning, the plant reported clear improvements in supply stability, air quality and running cost:

  • About 20% less downtime caused by air-supply problems compared with the previous system.
  • About 15% higher overall production efficiency, attributed to the more stable air supply.
  • Fewer quality defects related to moisture and impurities in the compressed air.
  • Lower maintenance workload, with remote and scheduled control reducing the need for manual supervision.

Splitting the supply between a small belt-driven unit and a larger direct-drive unit, with drying and filtration downstream, gave the plant a simple, efficient air system sized for its current lines and the new one.
